Biography of Sheikh Zain bin Muhammad Nour Fatani
Sheikh Zain bin Muhammad Nour bin Muhammad bin Ismail Fatani was born in the house of his father, Sheikh Muhammad Nour Fatani, in the Al-Qashashiyah neighborhood, Al-Khardafushi Alley (later known as Al-Fatani Alley) in Wadi Sayyidna Ibrahim, Makkah, in 1320 AH (corresponding to 1902–1903 CE).

He received his early religious education from his esteemed father, scholar Sheikh Muhammad Nour bin Muhammad Ismail Fatani. He was later enrolled in Al-Raqiyah School (Makkah), from which he graduated. He then worked alongside his father serving the pilgrims (Duyuf Al-Rahman).

He traveled with his father, Sheikh Muhammad Nour bin Muhammad Ismail Al-Fatani, to Terengganu state, Malaysia, where he settled. When Sheikh Ahmad Nour established the Sultan Zainal Abidin Arabic School, he appointed Sheikh Zain as an Arabic language teacher there. He subsequently became the Vice Principal and was later nominated by Sheikh Ahmad to take over the school's administration, becoming the second director of the Sultan Zainal Abidin Arabic School in Malaysia. He served as the school's director for several years, during which he developed the educational system, expanded the school, increased the number of students, and appointed numerous teachers. He appointed his cousin, Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Wan Dawood, as Vice Principal to manage the school after him, until he requested retirement, which was approved.

Sheikh Zain bin Muhammad Nour settled in Terengganu state. He married his cousin, Asmah bint Fatimah, and married two more times later.

Demise
Sheikh Zain bin Muhammad Nour Fatani passed away in 1391 AH (corresponding to 1971–1972 CE) at the age of approximately 71 in his home in Terengganu state, Malaysia, and was buried there. He is survived by his sons: Mahdi, Abdullah, Muhammad Kamil, Ismail, Yasin, and Muhammad Nour
