Within this context was the distinguished life of Khalid bin Yassin Fattani, whose unique direction became his source of livelihood and a defining characteristic of his life.

Who is Khalid Yassin Fattani?
Khalid Yassin Fattani was the second son of Sheikh Yassin Mohammad Noor Fattani. He was born in Mecca in the Al-Sough alley in Al-Qashashiyah, near the Grand Mosque, in 1357 AH (approx. 1938/1939 CE). His father ensured he received an Islamic upbringing, emphasizing timely prayers, especially at the Grand Mosque whenever possible.

Education and Early Career
Khalid completed his elementary education at Al-Rahmaniyah School, then attended intermediate school, and later graduated from the Preparatory School for Missions in Mecca. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Financial Accounting from Alexandria University in the Arab Republic of Egypt in 1381 AH (approx. 1961/1962 CE). He then received a Higher Diploma in Accounting in 1382 AH (approx. 1962/1963 CE).

He began his career in a financial position at the Ministry of Finance in Riyadh in 1382 AH (approx. 1962/1963 CE), working in the Accounting Department of the Financial Administration. His diligence led him to transfer to the Ministry of Agriculture, where Sheikh Hassan Al-Mashari was the minister at the time.

Shift to the Private Sector and Entrepreneurship
Khalid Yassin Fattani left the Ministry of Agriculture for the private sector. He was selected to be the Director General of Financial Affairs at the Saleh Kamel Commercial Establishment. As the establishment expanded—starting with the first tender for transporting Saudi mail between Saudi governorates—Khalid Fattani was chosen as its first Director General. He was responsible for organizing the new institution, which quickly achieved success and expanded its services, including mail transport to villages and remote areas, and later extending to airport maintenance services. Khalid successfully led the institution's growth within two years.

Khalid then transitioned to independent work, resigning from the Saleh Kamel Establishment. He founded the Khalid Yassin Fattani Office in 1386 AH (approx. 1966/1967 CE), establishing it as the first Saudi office to practice the profession of accounting and auditing in Saudi Arabia, headquartered in Riyadh from 1392-1401 AH (approx. 1972-1981 CE).

The office later transformed into a professional partnership with Abdulaziz Mohammed Daghistani, named the Saudi Accounting Office, also based in Riyadh.

Professional Achievements and Memberships
In 1412 AH (approx. 1991/1992 CE), he contributed to the establishment of the Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants (SOCPA), which led to the approval of the Certified Accountants System.

The firm's activities continued until the passing of Sheikh Abdulaziz Daghistani. Following the withdrawal of partner Abdulwahab Abdulwasi, the company was converted into an individual establishment in 1417 AH (approx. 1996/1997 CE).

The company's name was changed in 1402 AH (approx. 1981/1982 CE) to Khalid Fattani and Partners, Certified Public Accountants and Auditors.

In 1424 AH (approx. 2003/2004 CE), the office collaborated with several international professional groups, including The Leading Edge Alliance, Moores Rowland International, Grant Thornton Mattar Associates, and Coopers & Lybrand.

Mr. Khalid Fattani was a Fellow of the Middle East Society of Associated Accountants.

He was a member of the Moores Rowland International Accounting organization since 1402 AH (approx. 1981/1982 CE).

He served as a member of the Saudi High Commission for Accounts (1399-1402 AH / approx. 1979-1982 CE).

He was a member of the Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants (SOCPA) (1409-1412 AH / approx. 1988-1992 CE).

He was a member and assistant head of the Professional Ethics Committee (SOCPA) since 1417 AH (approx. 1996/1997 CE).

He was a Fellow of the Arab Society of Certified Accountants in the United Kingdom and a certified member of the American Management Institute.

He participated in various seminars and lectures to develop financial accounting in Saudi Arabia and authored several works on accounting and legal auditing, including the book Internal Auditing: A Neglected Issue.

In 1439 AH (approx. 2017/2018 CE), the Khalid Yassin Fattani Office was converted into the professional company Khalid Fattani and Khalid Hawasawi, Certified Public Accountants and Auditors, after the joining of CPA Khalid Abdulaziz Hawasawi, with its headquarters in Jeddah.

Khalid Fattani's Family Life
First Marriage and Children
Early in his career at the Ministry of Finance, Khalid lived in a shared apartment in Riyadh with several recent university graduates and new government employees. Upon his appointment as Financial Administration Director at the Ministry of Agriculture, he married the daughter of Sheikh Hamid Al-Jaafari, a resident of Medina working in Riyadh. She was a devout wife, and they were blessed with a son, Waleed, which led to Khalid being known as Abu Waleed. The family enjoyed a peaceful married life in their home in a distinguished neighborhood in Riyadh, which included a beautiful villa. During their annual holidays, they often traveled to Egypt and Western countries. They had four children: Waleed, Dina, Dalia, and Mansour. Sadly, his first wife passed away after an illness. All the children married and had children of their own.

Second Marriage and Later Life
After moving to Jeddah and establishing his private accounting office, Khalid settled there and built a villa in the Al-Sulaymaniyah/Al-Jamea district. Seeking a second wife, he sought guidance through prayer and met a man at the mosque who suggested he marry his brother-in-law's sister, who was going through a similar divorce. He traveled to the Levant to meet her father, Mohammed Juma'a Syndian, and married Latifah Mohammed Juma'a Syndian. They were blessed with three daughters: Safaa, Malak, and Aya. She remained with him until his death, providing attentive care during his final years and illness.

Relationship with His Family
Despite spending most of his time in Riyadh, Khalid remained devoted to his parents and siblings, visiting them in Mecca during his holidays and Ramadan. He was cherished by his father, Sheikh Yassin Fattani, who saw many of his own traits in him. Khalid was devoted to his mother and actively supported his siblings in their lives, encouraging their success.

After his father's passing, the siblings moved their mother to a smaller residence in Mecca to ease her service burden. When Khalid moved to Jeddah, he arranged for his mother to live in one of his adjacent houses to be close to her and provide care. He was meticulous in his daily visits, greeting her every morning before going to his office, stopping by after Fajr prayer from the mosque, and often having breakfast with her. He hired a private maid to care for and cook for her.

Khalid maintained a tradition of family gatherings every Friday at their mother's residence in Jeddah, where siblings, their spouses, and children would share lunch. Before sunset, the family would gather to greet their mother, Aminah, an exemplary mother of high morals and great compassion. The house in Jeddah was equipped with an elevator for her comfort.

The weekly gathering continued until one Friday when their mother, Aminah, was suffering from a fever. Despite scheduling a doctor's appointment for the next day, the entire family gathered happily for their usual Friday lunch. Before sunset, the men went to check on her. She smiled and expressed her joy at their presence, yet she told them, "Perhaps this is our last meeting." Though they reassured her and prayed for her long life, her time had come. After the family left, she performed the Maghrib and Isha prayers, had dinner, and went to sleep with her daughter Jamilah nearby. She felt at peace, uttered the Shahada (testimony of faith), and peacefully passed away. Khalid and his siblings mourned their mother, accepting God's decree.

Life returned to normal for Khalid until his younger brother, Ameen, passed away. Khalid then continued supervising his accounting office until he fell ill. He was taken to the hospital, where his children, siblings, and brother Mohammed Noor visited him. On that day, Khalid felt his time was near. He smiled, thanked God for their presence, and passed away on Thursday, 18/4/1442 AH (December 3, 2020 CE), at the age of 85.
